1930s: North Melbourne Locomotive Depot in 1937. See A2,C,X and E class locomotives in steam.
Rare footage of S 301 (unstreamilned) and S303 (streamlined), moving through the yard before hauling the ‘Sydney Limited’ and ‘Spirit of Progress’ respectively.
1940s: Segments on the VRs war time contributions as well as the building of ‘Heavy Harry’ (H220), K Class and Australian Standard Garratt locomotives.
1950s: We look at the implementation of ‘Operation Phoenix’ which saw new steam locomotives
As well as railcars and the implementation of ‘dieselisation’ . D3 655 is featured being prepared at Bendigo and then running the Swan Hill Passenger train.
Still in the 1950s, we follow the steam locomotive X29 on a Bendigo bound goods train. Having travlled from the North of the state and more.
1960s: Final run of a D3 class locomotive on the Swan Hill passenger train. A short cabride aboard a Melbourne bound B class diesel,the
Opening of the Standard Gauge line to Albury and follow a rare Passenger train on the Queenscliff Line.
1970s: Melbourne Passenger Yard and entrance to Spencer Street as seen from within the yard. Introduction of the C Class diesels and
Line closures.
