The North Est main line in Victoria conjures up memories of the mighty `S'class Pacifics hailing `The Spirit of Progress éxpress on the broad gauge between Albury and Melbourne.
There were many branchlines in the region which are now mostly forgotten.

- Tallangatta to Cudgewa.
- Springhurst to Wahgunyah.
